Backflow Program
The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) requires the Etowah Water & Sewer Authority (the Authority) to have a Backflow Prevention Program for the elimination and prevention of all cross connections to the public water system in accordance with The Georgia Rules for Safe Drinking Water, Chapter 391-3-5-13(4). All Commercial and Industrial water customers are required to have a backflow prevention device and shall be responsible for the installation, maintenance and testing of the backflow device or devices annually at their own expense. All backflow prevention devices shall be tested annually by a Georgia Certified Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester. In addition to testing annually, testing must be done upon installation and after any backflow repairs, modifications or upgrades. You may use any Georgia certified backflow prevention tester.
